According to the Microsoft blog, in a preview of the new Teams, the performance of the application was up to twice as fast, and it consumed only half the memory. The new Teams app comes with several new features, including custom business apps, third-party apps, small group rooms, 7×7 video, call queues, PSTN calls, contextual search in chats and channels, channel chat sending, and more. Not only does it have new features, but it also includes improved security and IT management. In addition, now installing the Microsoft Teams application on computers is three times faster and joining or starting meetings is twice as fast.

According to a report by The Verge, Microsoft has ditched the Electron foundations of Teams and adopted Microsoft’s Edge WebView2 technology. Some improvements have also been made to the app’s user interface.

Users can experience the app’s new features in the Teams client, where business users must upgrade to a newer version. However, Microsoft says the transition would be as quick as a simple software update. In addition, users of the “classic Teams” version will automatically switch to the new version in the near future.

Mac users will also experience improvements to the app as they were not included in the preview. Now Teams also includes Microsoft’s artificial intelligence-based Copilot, which allows users to hold effective meetings. Microsoft said: “Copilot in Teams chat helps you jump into conversations by quickly reviewing key points, action items, and decisions without long threads.”
